Penn State Berks will hold its annual Unity Day celebration, the largest diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging (DEIB) event at the college, from 12:15 to 1:15 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 7, on the Perkins Student Center lawn. This year’s theme is "Bring your home to Berks: Let's create our village." All Unity Day activities are free and open to the public.
As part of Hispanic Heritage Month, Penn State Berks will hold its 10th annual Latino Forum from 9:30? to 11:30 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 14, in the Perkins Student Center Auditorium. This special event is free and open to students from all Berks County high schools, as well as members of the local Hispanic and Latino community. There will also be a virtual option. Advanced registration is required.
Penn State Berks students traveled to Mexico City during Spring Break from March 5 to March 12, but it wasn’t for fun in the sun. The trip was embedded in the Modern Latin American History honors course in which the students were enrolled.
In honor of Black History Month, the Penn State Berks Black Student Union will hold an event titled ‘Being Black at Berks’ from 5 to 6 p.m. Friday, Feb. 25, in the Perkins Student Center Auditorium. This event is free and open to the public and light refreshments will be provided. During the event, students will share their experiences and history, culture and fashion. There will also be student performances.
Growing up in West Philadelphia, Rodney Babb is no stranger to gun violence. He is dedicating his life to making a difference in his community in his role as a violence intervention program coordinator at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, located in West Philadelphia.
When Genesis Mu?oz Arias was a student at Reading High School, she was introduced to Penn State Berks through the Upward Bound program, which provides support to participants in preparation for college. Now that she is graduating from Penn State Berks, she is putting her degree to work to help Reading residents.?
Penn State Berks alumni Cory Dahlia Varona Corniel and Nicol Varona Cancelmo participated in an entrepreneurship panel discussion titled “Leveraging Entrepreneurial Experience to Maximize Professional Success,” a virtual event, on Nov. 10.

As part of the "Global Oscars Comes to Berks," Penn State Berks will present the film "Quo Vadis, Aida?" at 6:15 p.m. on Nov. 16, in room 5 Luerssen Building. The presentation is free and open to the public.
