The Penn State Berks Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee will hold its annual International Thanksgiving dinner at 5:30 p.m. on Nov. 13. This event is open to Penn State Berks students, faculty and staff. Attendees are asked to register for the dinner no later than Nov. 5.
Penn State Berks will host motivational speaker and activist Autumn Rose Miskweminanocsqua Williams for a lecture on self-love and empowerment at 7 p.m. on Nov. 6 in the Perkins Student Center Auditorium.
As part of the "Global Oscars Comes to Berks" series, Penn State Berks will present the film “Close” at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 7, in room 5 of the Luerssen Science Building. The presentation is free and open to the public.
The Penn State Berks International Klub will host its first-ever Garba Night from 6 to 10 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 27, in the Perkins Student Center Multipurpose Room. The event is free for Penn State Berks faculty, staff and students. Tickets are also available for non-Penn State students.
As part of Hispanic Heritage Month, Penn State Berks will hold its 11th annual Latino Forum from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 13, in the college’s Perkins Student Center Auditorium. This special event is free and open to students from all Berks County high schools, as well as members of the local Hispanic and Latino community.
Eric Alva will tell his story of coming out as a gay man in the armed forces and his advocacy for diversity and inclusion in the workplace during a lecture titled “The End of ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’” at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 11 in the Penn State Berks Perkins Student Center Auditorium. This event is free and open to the public.
Penn State Berks will host its annual Unity Day celebration — the largest diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging event at the college — from 12:15 p.m. to 1:15 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 6, on the Perkins Student Center lawn. This year’s theme is “Building Memories through Community.” All Unity Day activities are free and open to the public.
Beginning in mid-September, Penn State Berks will celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with a variety of events; each event is intended for a specific audience, including prospective and current students, the campus community, and the general public. Members of the general public must register in advance.?
Penn State Berks officially welcomed its sixth leader when Radha Pyati assumed the?role?of chancellor and dean of Penn State Berks,?effective July 1,?following a national search.?Formerly dean?of?the College of?the?Sciences and Mathematics at West Chester University,?Pyati is an accomplished researcher,?teacher, chemist,?author, award-winning environmentalist, and a leader in STEM education.?
