Penn State Berks hosts ‘With Open Heart and Open Arms: LGBTQ+ Cuban Refugees’

Penn State Berks will host the traveling exhibit "With Open Heart and Open Arms: LGBTQ+ Cuban Refugees and the LGBTQ+ Community's Response to the Mariel Boatlift of 1980" in the Thun Library from 3 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 10, until Oct. 17. The exhibit is sponsored on campus by the Penn State Berks DEIB Committee, The Rainbow Alliance student organization, and the Thun Library.

Berks, Reading High, local artists present ‘Breaking Barriers, Building Bridges'

What happens when a college, a high school and local artists join together to celebrate diversity? The result is ‘Breaking Barriers, Building Bridges,’ an evening of multicultural performances of dance, music, spoken word and art. This event will be held at 5 p.m. Friday, April 29, in the Perkins Student Center Auditorium on Penn State Berks campus. The program is free and open to the public, but seating is limited and registration is required. ?

Penn State Berks student develops conlang as part of Schreyer thesis

Jannah Martin sees conlangs, and her own constructed language in particular, as a means of bringing cultures together and closing that gap of otherness. Martin, a senior communication arts and sciences major at Penn State Berks, is completing a Schreyer Honors College thesis by constructing a language intended to serve as a bridge language.

The winning selections from Penn State University Libraries?Short Stories’ “Through the Woods” fall 2021 contest have been announced, representing five Penn State campuses.?Each of the four Editorial Board winners and the People’s Choice winner will receive a $100 Visa gift card. All winning entries, including nine honorable mentions, will be added to the Libraries’ Short Edition short-story dispensers
