Co-founders of the nonprofit organization Beauty Redefined, Lindsay and Lexie Kite will discuss the issues surrounding body image and body shaming at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 14, in the Perkins Student Center Auditorium, Penn State Berks. The Kite sisters, both doctoral graduates from the University of Utah in the study of media and body image, have dedicated themselves to helping people redefine the meaning and value of beauty. This event is free and open to the public.
The Penn State Berks Freyberger Gallery will present an exhibition of paintings by Ann Elizabeth Schlegel from Sept. 8 to Oct. 18. There will be an opening reception from 6-8 p.m. on Sept. 8. This event is free and open to the public, and light refreshments will be served.
Ann Clements, associate professor of music education in the School of Music, wins the first annual Open Innovation Challenge, which is a high-profile speaking opportunity to present new innovative ideas about anything that enhances teaching and learning in higher education. Clements, whose idea involved creating a 3D Virtual Teaching Lab, was one of six finalists chosen from a pool of nearly 40 innovative ideas submitted to the Challenge.
