Penn State Berks 2024 alumna Angela Bonopane earned the Best Undergraduate Research Paper Award from the Pennsylvania Academy of Criminal Justice Educators (PACJE), a statewide organization of faculty, practitioners and students in criminal justice. She also received the PACJE Bernie Meyer Student Scholarship and presented her research at the conference.?
During the Penn State Berks academic awards ceremony in April, three students received the Young Investigator Award for their research. They included Angela Bonopane, Matthew Kauffman and Morgan Lusch. All three graduated on May 4.
Two Penn State Berks students will spend this summer engaged in their respective funded research opportunities. Sophomore Daniel Abramov and senior Sydney Bankert received the Erickson Discovery Grant; they are two of 50 who received the grant.
A new research program for students will be launched this coming fall: The Vice President for Commonwealth Campuses Undergraduate Student Research Fund aims to support student-led projects in different fields. Participants will acquire hands-on experience in research, scholarship, and artistic efforts. They will be responsible for creating their own research problems, study proposals, methodologies, and presenting their findings.

Jannah Martin sees conlangs, and her own constructed language in particular, as a means of bringing cultures together and closing that gap of otherness. Martin, a senior communication arts and sciences major at Penn State Berks, is completing a Schreyer Honors College thesis by constructing a language intended to serve as a bridge language.
Erin Horack, a first-year biotechnology major at Penn State Berks, recently won two first place awards for her research studying the spotted lanternfly. She was named a?2021 Regeneron Science Talent Search Scholar and she also took first place honors at the?National FFA Agriscience competition for her research.
Penn State University Libraries presented its fourth annual Undergraduate Research Award honors to 100 students at nearly all undergraduate Penn State campuses, including 96 current undergraduate students and recent graduates, four graduate students, two additional College of Medicine students and two collaborating faculty members.
