The Penn State Berks Theatre Department will present "Greater Tuna" by Jaston Williams, Joe Sears and Ed Howard at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 22, through Saturday, Feb. 25, in the Perkins Student Center Auditorium. Admission is free, but space is limited and donations to the Theatre Department will be accepted.
"Greater Tuna" takes a comedic romp through the fictional town of Tuna, Texas, where the Lion's Club is too liberal and Patsy Cline never dies. It is intended as a humorous satire on life in rural America.
James N. Brown, instructor in theater and coordinator of the theater degree program, will direct the production and student Taylor Clark Housel will serve as assistant director. Student Andrew Bush will do the lighting and sound design during the performance and Berks theater students Evan Barton, Elliot Dietrich, Tommy Heiler, Adonis Oyediran and Yamilex Rodriguez Ortiz will perform as the actors.
The bachelor of arts in theater provides students with a solid foundation to become successful theater artists and effective theater educators. The degree program also trains students in the skills to become effective communicators and professional program managers.
