Screening of 'Finding Jenn’s Voice' on Feb. 23

READING, Pa. — Penn State Berks Police Service will sponsor a screening of "Finding Jenn's Voice," followed by a discussion with the filmmaker, Tracy Schott, at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 23, in the Perkins Student Center Multipurpose Room. The screening is part of the University’s “Stand for State” program.

The film tells the story of Jennifer Snyder, who was murdered by her boyfriend in 2011 shortly after she told him she was pregnant. A week after the murder, Snyder’s aunt contacted filmmaker Tracy Schott to create a film that would tell her niece’s story. The film also includes testimonies of survivors of intimate partner violence and unveils the reality of abusive relationships. The purpose of the film is to give a voice to the voiceless, and provide viewers with stories that are hard to forget.

Stand for State is part of a University-wide effort to combat sexual assaults. In February 2015, Penn State President Eric Barron endorsed the bystander intervention program as part of all 18 recommendations to fight sexual assault and sexual harassment on campus that were presented by a University task force.

“Stand for State is an integral part of our strategy to fight sexual violence and establish Penn State as a leader in making campuses safer," Barron said.?
