WYOMISSING, Pa. — The Penn State Berks global studies program will host a global forum titled "A Year in the Peace Corps–Timor-Leste," presented by alumna Jaymi Smith, from 12:15 to 1:15 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 2, in Room 121 of the Gaige Technology and Business Innovation Building. This event is free and open to the public.
Smith earned a bachelor’s degree in global studies from Penn State Berks in spring 2023. Currently, she works with the Peace Corps in Timor-Leste, a small island in Southeast Asia. Smith will discuss her experiences as a Peace Corps volunteer, including what it's like to live and work in a completely different culture, the challenges and rewards of living in a less developed country, and the important lessons learned about oneself along the way. She also will introduce the audience to the rich culture and history of Timor-Leste.
