Ike Shibley

Dr. Shibley joined Penn State in 1996. He teaches a variety of courses including general chemistry, organic chemistry, biochemistry, nutrition, bioethics, and philosophy of science. His biochemical research interest focuses on fetal alcohol syndrome: his laboratory uses a chicken embryo model to assess the damage done to the developing embryo after ethanol exposure. His pedagogical research interests involve exploring ways to facilitate cognitive development in college students and finding the most productive ways to enhance student learning. Dr. Shibley also serves as the chair of the science degree and is involved in many aspects of campus life.
